| Lindas prayer (Submitted: 14th July 2005) |
You turned around and asked me once,
words, straight out of the blue,
would I miss you when youd left this world,
Astounded, I found it hard, I couldnt really answer you
And now youve left this world so abruptly,
I never had the chance to say,
and the words that follow, my darling
are for you, for always, day after day after day.
Forever youll be in my thoughts and dreams,
Always pulling the strings of my heart
And I will always love you, my darling husband
As I have done from the very start.
Itd seemed Id waited my whole life just for you,
And when we met I knew
we could always be ourselves, relaxed and true,
no airs, no graces, just a real pair we two.
I know youre never far away from me
I hear your whispers and feel your touch,
teasing me as you did in this life,
making me smile, and cry, so very much.
How I miss your loving and affection,
your arms lifting me high above your head,
wrapping my whole body so tightly,
keep me warm the cold nights in bed.
Closing my eyes I see your smile and hear your laughter,
lighting up my silent world,
your funny phrases, jesting, jokes and anecdotes
The endless ways you made my toes curl.
All the wonderful things you did for me,
I never said thank you enough,
my appreciation for you goes on and on
my future without you can be nothing but tough.
Your belief in yourself, in justice and fun
you taught us all how to live,
Assertive and strong you would never flinch
so kind, loving and warm: you had so much to give.
In our beautiful baby boy I see endless reminders
of his wonderful and proud daddy,
who loved and played and rolled around,
such a perfect father - never again could there be.
Your son is so like you, it tears me apart,
A flash of his eyes and there you are,
his hands, his feet, his hair, his smile transpire,
To haunt and comfort me - just like you do from afar.
And I wonder, if I live to see him grow to a man
will he be so very like you,
And Id give anything to have you here, beside me,
To nuture and guide his precious life along too.
Youd be our sons inspiration, thats for sure,
Teach him right from wrong
Youd encourage his talents, skills and abilities
Show him how to believe in himself and be strong
And I miss you so very much my darling,
I wish you always back here with me,
To sit, to touch, to hug, to kiss and love,
And sit your baby son on your knee.
You once said I was your best friend,
And theres no denying it still remains true,
I believe you still hear me sweetie,
when I talk and send my thoughts and love to you.
Theres no one ever to replace you my love.
My eternal lover and soul mate,
And when we meet in the next world,
we ll surely recognise each other, and love again
our destiny, our fate. |

| Those we have loved and lost hold a special place in our hearts. When we lose them sometimes we want to hide and sometimes we want to shout it from the rooftops. Let us remember them in a special way for all to share. They have not gone, they are just away. |
